The Social Investment Trust has undertaken a social investment project by purchasing an orphanage for Acres of Love, a Johannesburg based charity organization that provides homes and care for abandoned and HIV-positive babies.
?The AIDS pandemic has caused global catastrophic results with thousands of children living in poverty, in many cases infected with the HIV virus, abandoned and with no-one to care for them. Acres of Love is a dynamic community project, which provides homes, love, care and support for these abandoned babies.

At the end of 2002, the Acres of Love organization came to our attention and we decided to participate in this worthy cause and purchased a home in Olivedale, Johannesburg , to donate to the orphanage.
National Brands Social Investment Trust is the first in South Africa to donate a full home to such a project and is the fourth home belonging to the organization, enabling them to offer these children the highest level of care to reach their full potential.
The home will primarily be used as an orphanage to provide abandoned AIDS babies with accommodation and the best medical attention, nutrition and education. Besides providing a home for the orphanage, the property also has a garden cottage on the premises that will be used as an office base for the permanent staff members working for Acres of Love.
