Safari Sisters Forever Home Dedication March 7th, 2008

On March 7, 2008 a celebration was held at Casalinga Ristorante in South Africa to dedicate the Safari Sisters Forever Home, and the Acres of Love children who live there, to the Lord. Joining the staff and children of Acres of Love for the ceremony were Cheri Shank, her two daughters Erin and Shannon and the returning Safari Sisters families who had traveled from California to see the home and meet the family that they have lovingly supported since its establishment one year ago.

Safari Sisters Forever Homes

The dream of ten California women is now a reality. Almost one year ago this group of wives, mothers and grandmothers branded themselves the “Safari Sisters” and set off for what was supposed to be a two week visit to Acres of Love – and became the journey of a lifetime. Upon visiting the Forever Homes in South Africa, and meeting the tiny residents, their hearts were captured. On the final day of their time in Johannesburg the women made a commitment to raise the awareness and the funds necessary to open the Safari Sisters Forever Home. Upon returning to the United States the women began hosting events, sending out letters and sharing the stories of what they had seen with any and all who would listen. (They even have their own website!) It was the desire of the Safari Sisters to open their Acres of Love Forever Home within 18 months, but their eloquent words, passionate commitment, and generous friends and family have made this home a reality in less than 10 months!
