How Can I Help?

On December 1st, 2007, more than 200 people attended the first “Dinner with a Solution” sponsored by Acres of Love. In homes across the country, our dedicated volunteers and partners made a powerful and positive impact in observation of World AIDS Day by raising more than $35,000 toward the rescue and care of AIDS orphans in South Africa. A huge thanks to all of our event hosts, who gave of their time, their homes, and their hearts to make a lasting difference in the lives of those left in the wake of the AIDS emergency.

Coffee With a Purpose

Hosting a “Coffee with a Purpose” gives local volunteers an opportunity to partner with Acres of Love in raising awareness within their own community. These events give individuals/families a chance to impact the children of South Africa without having to leave the comfort of your own home. The first step is to invite a small group of people you know well to attend an informal get-together at your residence. (Consider inviting an existing group such as a Bible study, book club, family member, etc.) As host, you provide the coffee, the snacks and the atmosphere. Once your guests arrive and have had time to mingle, one of the representatives from Acres of Love will present a video and discuss the crisis of AIDS in Africa, the solution pursued by Acres of Love, and opportunities your guests have to make a difference. With the majority of time dedicated to casual question/answer and conversation, your friends and family will discover how they might partner with us to serve the children at Acres of Love. If hosting a “Coffee with a Purpose” sounds like something you’d like to do, contact Beth Gillig, beth@acresoflove.org, for further details.
